Let's loose our limbs to lightning the ground Let's poke, explode thunderclouds Let's pull a one two, one one two Let's pull our eyelids apart Thyroid eyes, thyroid heart Throb, throbbing limbs beat beat beat beat beat beat Aww we look crazy and rabid But I assure you it's pure joy Unadulterated happiness Oh boy, oh boy! Aww we look crazy and rabid But I assure you it's pure joy Unadulterated happiness Oh boy, oh boy! Let's loose our limbs to lightning the groud Let's poke, explode thunderclouds Let's pull a one two, one one two Let's pull our eyelids apart Thyroid eyes, thyroid heart Throb, throbbing limbs beat beat beat beat beat beat Aww we look crazy and rabid But I assure you it's pure joy Unadulterated happiness Oh boy, oh boy! Aww we look crazy and rabid But I assure you it's pure joy Unadulterated happiness Oh boy, oh boy! My eyelids are strapped to the back of my skull Do I seem suitably eh, eh, eh, eh, excited? My eyelids are strapped to the back of my skull Do I seem suitably eh, eh, eh, eh, excited?

You're the one who's sitting there You haven't spent all morning on your hair You haven't make-upped your face either And your nails look not unlike human nails And those eyes sending beams from beneath those glasses Are twinkling through mere natural lashes And every animated smile I see I hope to christ is aimed at me And the chit chat flowers are in full flirty bloom Dazzling and choking with their fake perfume And I'm wading through them towards you You know I'm not going to fall for their subterfuge Riiiiiiight? I'm imaging a book And they're the dustcover And you're the ink and pulp Well I'm imaging a book And they're the dustcover And you're the ink and pulp I better stop this adoration from afar Try to get to know who you truly are The ridiculousness of the you I've constructed Is the only bar i can imagine between us But lo, and indeed, behold! It seems Reality hovers miles above my limited dreams It's hard to make this about you and not me Without seeming crass beyond belief And though it's been ten years and counting Rather than staleness it's wonder that's growing We're two tree trunks curled awkwardly into one Sustaining each other with our smiling competition Well I'm trying to get deeper looks at you But it's as useful as trying to see the back of my own head (without a mirror obviously (without two mirrors obviously)) I'm trying to count the things of yours that are distinctly yours But why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah

Brain burned ten thousand times in half of one earth hour A giant white canvas in the sky One future after another I spent the rest of my life trying to keep my tabula rasa For fear of forgetting even one image A flashing vision of the final day Twentysix years and counting My task as I saw it was the grandest task of all Why did god choose me as the redeemer of the world? And in a cruel twist of fate He swapped those reflections for all that I thought was logical So with eyes ever unblinking I'll take these stills Try to erase them from my skull But I'm not merely a vessel to carry your cryptic messages forth That thirty minutes was only the start of the time of mine you took Every dab of paint was a pure memory Not sullied at that inception by anything but blind belief As the pigments dried on the board A small cache of brain was freed The more I painted the more I got to reclaim of meeeeee I am a beautiful castle A triumphant waaaaaaaar The boards are stacking up god Protect them from the witch She'll cover them in soot and gore and then that'll be it I'll be a rabbit on a roller Watching a napkin wearing donkey turning into a zebra Laughing at his shaved body And his empty glass head Wishing mine was glass too (run rabbit run) But I'm not merely a vessel to carry your cryptic messages forth That thirty minutes was only the start of the time of mine you took You took You toooooook uuuuh uhhh uuuuuh uuuuuh uuuuh uhhh uuuuuh uuuuuh uuuuh uhhh uuuuuh uuuuuh lah lah laaah lah dah dah dah dah

There's only one way for this journey to begin You've to vaseline yourself up and dive right in My mouth open so wide that my gullet may be seen So hold your asthmatic breath and take a seat on my spleen lah dah dah dah lah dah dah lah dah dah dah lah dah dah Write down with your plentiful acid ink How your darting eyes see and your darting brain thinks Attention to detial will aid us in our plight When you return from this investigation full of might We'll be singing lah dah dah dah lah dah dah lah dah dah dah lah dah dah When you clamber up my gullet with your giant scraggy nailed hands When you outline to me from these observances your battle plans We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on lah dah dah dah lah dah dah lah dah dah dah lah dah dah We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on We'll take anything on

I look at you all Eyes bright Notice almost every change in light Every dancing shadow Pointed ears alert No tinnitus here Sweet rushing blood Sweet pumping blood Cheeks becoming flushed Pupils cavernous in the dusk We've candles and flowers What good are candles and flowers? Hands flexing taut Spine snapping cracking lost ATP shallow breath Hyperventilating Wet throats screech Gutteral whoops matched by leaps Of astounding grace Mirth mirrorred on every single face Flashing teeth Palms upraised Palms release photons Bubbling photons All this potential energy It's kinetic now Let's dance until we've stumps for ... Feet leaping north Ideas charging forth Nodding necks furrowed brows Chattering jaws well and truly espouse Synching brains Charging neurons to flame Ascending amazed Awe dawns on every single face Flashing teeth Palms upraised Palms release photons Bubbling photons All this potential energy It's kinetic now Let's dance until we've stumps for feet, feet, feet, feet, feet, feet, feet, feet, feet, feet

about

This recording came about in a typical way.
Liam needed to record a band for a college project and Richie volunteered us.
We found ourselves in the recording studio behind the Maths building (Logic House). Three of the band (and our roadie Peter) had attended the university (I actually met Peter in a Maths tutorial in that very building 10 years before the recording) and the fourth member had spent a good portion of time there – going to the cinema in the Aula Maxima, walking around the beautiful old campus and drinking milk in the canteen. Old thoughts and memories were stirred.
We worked for eight hours on a Saturday and four hours on the Sunday.
All the instruments were done live in one take (excepting my piano for Bars and then vocals were done separately (excepting AprilFool).
There are backing vocals sung by Ger on SpringDance and Brackets.
Liam was ably assisted/mentored by Mr. Martin Long.

The collection of songs is named TakeYourTime with good reason.
There's the obvious reference to how long it actually took us to get to the stage of recording the songs, then 5 years for me to finish and release it.
There's also something about taking your time to do things that appeals to me. Taking your time for friends and family and yourself. Not rushing around impressing everyone with how busy you are and how many engagements and appointments you keep. You don't have to live slow to take your time.
